Hightown Primary School

After School Provision

We offer a wide range of after school clubs each week for children from all year groups.

Southampton Football Club Primary Stars

Southampton Football Club Primary Stars supports our teachers to develop their understanding of physical education and the impact it has on young people and their education; a working partnership which has developed successfully over the past 3 years. All staff are coached in the delivery and assessment of PE and SFC Primary Stars coaches also lead Maths and English interventions for children across the school who have a variety of needs.

SFC Primary Stars regularly offer our children 'once in a lifetime' opportunities; some of our children have been chosen to be a flag bearer during football matches on the pitch at St Mary's Stadium and we have even been visited by professional footballers who have played for Southampton.

Southampton FC Primary Stars is hugely valued by both our staff and children and has resulted in a higher quality of teaching and learning in PE throughout the school, increased engagement in physical activity and a developing passion for sport amongst many more of our children.

Stage School

Additionally, children from across Key Stage 2 are invited to join our very established and successful 'Stage School'; a weekly club which incorporates singing, drama and dance. Every year those children who take part in Stage School put on a performance for parents and the rest of the school; previous successful performances have included 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Scrooge' and those children who take part never cease to amaze us with their incredible talent; they simply shine!

Hightown School Choir

We have very strong Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 choirs at Hightown and we are incredibly proud of their achievements. As well as regularly taking part in assemblies and a range of whole school events, their talent has shone more widely during community events; these include  an annual performance for the local community at St. Christopher's Church summer fete, a local community Christmas carol service, taking part in the Southampton Music Association's annual concert, where our children join others from schools across Southampton to sing to a huge audience, and they also take part in the Young Voices Concert at the O2 Arena singing amongst a choir of from school across the United Kingdom.

Our School Library

We have a wealth of books in our school library, which is open every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school to all children and their parents and carers.
